Melinda Hoffman, M.A., LCPC

I am a licensed clinical professional counselor specializing in the treatment of adults, adolescents and families with trauma related issues.  I have served adults, children and families experiencing a variety of challenges for 20+ years.  These include but are not limited to: anger, depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, grief and loss, poor school performance, low self esteem, and relationship issues in various clinical settings.

I earned my graduate degree at Western Evangelical Seminary (aka George Fox University) in Portland, Oregon in Counseling Psychology and my undergraduate degree at Vennard College in University Park, Iowa.

I have specialized training in Play Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).

My life experiences have enabled me to respond to individuals with great empathy.  My clinical experience and insight enhances my ability to assist individuals as they confront and work through challenging issues, overcome obstacles and set realistic goals. I strongly believe in one's ability to grow and change and deeply respect each individual's personal journey and process.

When working with clients, my counseling style is primarily eclectic tailoring one or more therapy modalities to each individual's needs.  I often integrate a cognitive behavioral therapy approach when appropriate but do not use this technique exclusively.

My graduate training integrated both Christian theology and secular counseling theory which is tailored to each individual's personal spiritual journey as he/she initiates discussion regarding these issues.
